The girls loved getting their hands dirty! After 24 hours of
sitting, I lost my original recipe on my computer (how did THAT
happen?!?) and a kind fellow homeschooling and freecycling
mom pointed me in the direction of this blog and post:
If I Could Write a Book...: Homemade Laundry Detergent
the date of this post was Thursday June 25th, 2009
Look how viscousy and gelatinous-y (are those words? LOL)
this concentrate is!
So after we played with it for a while :P we took a quart of it and
put it into an old liquid detergent container and put a quart
of hot tap water and a little Tea Tree oil and shook it like
nobody's business! We used it, and I can't wait to see how the clothes
come out! This made a BUNCH of concentrate! I plan to figure out
the cost effectiveness of this recipe soon. It's WAY cheap, but
I think even I will be surprised as to just HOW inexpensive it
actually is here in our area!
I bought a bucket last night from Firehouse Subs and am going to give this stuff a shot. I just have to decide what scent I want in it. As much as I'd love to use "rose", I don't think King J would be particularly appreciative. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe Queen of Chaos has a great website. I bet she'd love to hear how yours turned out. Have a great day!
Thanks! I just posted a comment on her post :)
ReplyDeleteHow did you find out about her blog?
You have a good day too!! :D
hey girl. glad you are giving it a shot, and passing it along for others to try. last time i looked it was lessthan a dollar for the entire bucket!little hint, you can add fabric softner to the dtetergent. this also gives you the extra sent, and you donot have to add oils. enjoy! Amy Payne
ReplyDeleteI don't remember how I ran across her website. It's been a while, but I have enjoyed reading her blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteAmy, WOW thanks! $1 a bucket...that is AMAZING. It is hard to figure..the Borax is what I don't remember the price of, but the Washing Soda was about $2.50 with tax, and you only use *so little* of the box! The ivory soap about $3 for about 8 or so bars and you use only 1 bar at a time per recipe, and the water is negligible in price, LOL. Amazing. Just AMAZING!
